Let's make a way-way-too-early 53-man roster prediction for the Indianapolis Colts.

Now, to state the obvious, what the roster looks like today in late January is not what it will look like come training camp. So accuracy is not the primary goal here since we don't know what additions will be made in the coming months.

Instead, what this offseason exercise highlights are the positional needs that GM Chris Ballard has to tackle this offseason.

Let's dive in.

Quarterback (3)

Anthony Richardson, Riley Leonard, Seth Henigan

Hardly anything in the NFL is guaranteed, but is sure seems like Daniel Jones will be back.

Running back (3)

Jonathan Taylor, DJ Giddens, Ulysses Bentley

Adding an experienced back to bolster competition behind Taylor wouldn't be a bad idea.

Wide receiver (6)

Michael Pittman, Ashton Dulin, Anthony Gould, Josh Downs, Coleman Owen, Eli Pancol

Pittman is a possible cut candidate, while bringing back Alec Pierce has to be a priority.

Tight end (3)

Tyler Warren, Will Mallory, Sean McKeon

A blocking presence to pair with Warren would be a valuable addition, given how often Shane Steichen uses two tight end sets. More players are needed here as well.

Offensive line (10)

Bernhard Raimann, Quenton Nelson, Bill Murray, Tanor Bortolini, Jimmy Morrissey, Matt Goncalves, Dalton Tucker, Josh Sills, Jalen Travis, Blake Freeland

The Colts perhaps have their starting five on the roster already, but the depth has to be bolstered.

Defensive line (8)

JT Tuimoloau, Durell Nchami, Laiatu Latu, Viliami Fehoko Jr., DeForest Buckner, Adetomiwa Adebawore, Grover Stewart, Tim Smith

Eight defensive linemen on the 53-man roster is light, but that's all that the Colts have under contract currently. They also need more pass rush juice.

Linebacker (5)

Zaire Franklin, Austin Ajiake, John Bullock, Jaylon Carlies, Devin Versuk

When discussing the defense as a whole, Ballard mentioned the need to get younger and faster. That would seem to apply to the linebacker position.

Cornerback (7)

Charvarius Ward, Jaylon Jones, Johnathan Edwards, Sauce Gardner, Justin Walley, Mekhi Blackmon, Kenny Moore

If healthy, this is a deep position group for the Colts.

Safety (5)

Camryn Bynum, Trey Washington, Daniel Scott, Hunte Wohler, Reuben Lowrey

With Nick Cross a free agent, the starting strong safety role will be up for grabs.

Special teams (3)

Rigoberto Sanchez, Spencer Shrader, Luke Rhodes

Perhaps the Colts bring back Blake Grupe to compete at kicker.
