With the dust having settled following the Indianapolis Colts' preseason opener with New England, which players gave their training camp stock a boost, and whose stock took a hit?
Let's dive in.
It wasn't a perfect performance, with the offense getting off to a slow start, but overall, Richardson was efficient, generated several chunk passing plays, and made plays with the ball in his hands. He also put the offense in scoring position twice.
Whether or not the Colts have enough pass rush juice around Laiatu Latu is one of the big questions facing this team, and with the opportunity to go up against backup tackles for the Patriots, Tuimoloau had a fairly quiet performance. In 26 pass rush snaps, he didn't log any pressures, according to PFF.
Mallory was the Colts' leading receiver by a wide margin, totaling 80 yards through the air. This performance also comes after Mallory put together some strong outings in practice. He is very much trending up right now.
A run-stuffing presence, Nnadi was too often moved off the line of scrimmage, limiting his impact in the run game. The Colts also had him on the field for 14 pass rush snaps, but he did not log any pressures.
Curry did a bit of everything for the Colts' defensive front. He totaled six tackles as a run defender, including three solo, and two for a loss. He also generated a sack and three quarterback hits, along with two pass deflections.
From a special teams standpoint, Edwards' stock is up, but defensively it is down. Edwards was targeted often, allowing four completions on seven targets, giving up 75 total yards and a touchdown.
Shrader entered this game likely at a disadvantage to Blake Grupe in the kicking competition. However, after Grupe went 0-for-1 in the first half, Shrader would go 2-for-2, which included making a 61-yarder late to tie the game.
