The Indianapolis Colts are two weeks into training camp, and during that stretch of practices, we've seen a number of players have standout performances.
But which players, who might be flying under the radar, have managed to give their stock a big boost? These three, in particular, have stood out as of late and could earn more opportunities moving forward.
With DJ Giddens sidelined as he works through a hamstring injury, that has created more opportunities for Bentley in that RB3 role behind Jonathan Taylor and Seth McGowan. Making the 53-man roster may still be an uphill battle, but with his opportunities, Bentley has shown that he can impact the passing game, which is a potential differentiator for him, as this Colts' backfield could use more of that element.
At the heavily rotated linebacker position, Ajiake has seen some reps with the starters. Now, I don't necessarily think that means he's in the mix for starting snaps, but the opportunities he's earned go to show that the coaching staff likes what they are seeing from him. For what it's worth, he was also listed as a backup on the Colts' first unofficial depth chart.
Ajiake's defensive performance, coupled with his ability to help on special teams, has positioned him well to make the final roster.
With Mallory often inactive last season, I've been unsure as to whether or not he would make the roster this year. But in recent practices, including Tuesday's joint practice with the Patriots, he has flashed often in the passing game. His presence on the roster would give the Colts another pass-catching threat at the tight end position, with Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree often utilized as blockers.
