One of the most prominent NFL stories of the past half-decade is the Indianapolis Colts and their inability to find consistent starting quarterback play.

They’ve explored every avenue such as the draft, free agency, and even the trade market but all to no avail.

Anthony Richardson was expected to be the future of the position but after two seasons of rocky play at best, the team has had enough and is bringing in competition.

Former New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones will battle for the starting spot.

The Colts have been transparent with their belief in both signal callers but the outside perspective is that they are not good enough to get the job done.

The worst case scenario for Indianapolis is having subpar play from both quarterbacks this season.

That means that the starter either got injured or had to be benched and the man stepping in for relief isn’t having success either.

If this hypothetical becomes reality then the Colts will likely be bad next year and vying for the No. 1 pick in the draft.

PFF recently made up a way-too-early 2026 NFL mock draft that had the shoe selecting what they hope will be their quarterback of the future.

The site has Indianapolis picking at No. 8 and electing Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt.

The Michigan State Spartans transfer had an outstanding year in his first season with the Sun Devils throwing for nearly 3,000 yards and 24 touchdowns.

He may not be the top quarterback in next year’s class, but the talent of those players are much higher than the quarterbacks from this year.

So, it seems as if the Colts are in a win-win situation this upcoming season.
