INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts defense could get two pieces back as soon as this week.
Indianapolis is designating starting cornerback Charvarius Ward and second-year linebacker Jaylon Carlies to return from injured reserve, opening a 21-day window for the pair to practice.
Ward, who was on injured reserve after suffering two concussions in a span of six weeks, was working with trainers on the practice field before the bye week. Carlies has missed the first 10 games of the season due to an ankle injury that required surgery.
