Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs missed Sunday's practice. This was the second practice in a row that he's been absent from as he works through a groin injury.

However, head coach Shane Steichen provided some good news after practice. According to ESPN's Stephen Holder, Steichen said that Downs' groin injury was not serious. He could potentially compete in the Colts' joint practice with New England on Tuesday.

The most consequential news to come out of Sunday's Colts practice is probably coach Shane Steichen saying that Josh Downs' groin injury is NOT serious, and that he could potentially return for Tuesday's joint practice at New England.

Downs is expected to see more opportunities this season. With Michael Pittman in Pittsburgh, Downs, Pierce, and Tyler Warren will shoulder the workload when it comes to making up for his absence.

But along with more potential targets, how Downs is utilized in Steichen's offense could change as well, with more reps lined up outside possibly coming his way.

The depth of the Colts' receiver room was already in question prior to training camp starting, and with both Downs and Alec Pierce sidelined at the moment, there are even more questions surrounding that unit.

Wide receiver Laquon Treadwell has missed practice as well, dealing with a hamstring injury. Ashton Dulin, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, and Anthony Gould have been the top options the last two days.
