One of the more intriguing positional battles taking place for the Indianapolis Colts during training camp is at wide receiver.
Who will be starting alongside of Alec Pierce and Josh Downs is one competition that is taking place, but as GM Chris Ballard noted on Tuesday, how the rest of the depth chart shakes out behind the starters still has to be determined as well.
As the Colts search for answers, there will be a lot of movement at this position to see if anyone can emerge.
"Right now, we got moving parts right there and guys are moving around and got to step up and there's some competition in that room right now that we're excited about," Steichen said. "Dulin's a guy that's got to step up and Treadwell and Westbrook and the rest of those guys. So, I'm excited about that group and we're going to compete like crazy during training."
Ashton Dulin appeared to be the favorite for the WR3 role coming out of offseason programs. On Day 1 of training camp, with Pierce sidelined, the Indy Star's Joel Erickson noted that it was Dulin and Laquon Treadwell often in the starting lineup with Josh Downs, perhaps providing us with some insight into where this depth chart currently stands.
Also in the mix will be free agent signee Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, and it remains to be seen if rookie Deion Burks can make a push for playing time.
Ballard did mention that the Colts would still "consider" making a free agent addition at this position.
