Indianapolis Colts' rookie linebacker CJ Allen did not practice on Thursday. Head coach Shane Steichen said he is dealing with a hamstring injury.
There is no timetable for Allen's return.
Allen also missed a few practices early on while on the PUP list, navigating a calf injury at that time.
Allen is expected to start at linebacker for the Colts. However, whether or not he wears the green dot and is the signal-caller remains to be seen. While he's handled those duties recently, Cam Bynum took over that role.
Allen has impressed during his brief tenure with the Colts, but practice reps are very valuable, particularly for a rookie.
"He's again another guy that never left this building all summer and works his butt off both physically and mentally," said Lou Anarumo about Allen early in training camp, via Locked on Colts. "He's around. He sees what's going on, so I'm not worried about it."
Without Allen, Bryce Boettcher and Akeem Davis-Gaither are potential starting options at linebacker until he returns. Austin Ajiake or Jaylon Carlies could be options as well.
The Colts have rotated fairly often at linebacker this offseason.
