Colts' Quenton Nelson ranked among top IOL; what NFL execs had to say

The Indianapolis Colts' Quenton Nelson came in at No. 2 in ESPN's annual interior offensive linemen rankings.

Each year, Jeremy Fowler goes position by position, putting together a list of the 10 players from each unit. However, what makes these rankings unique is that a total of 70 NFL execs, coaches, and scouts were the voters. Other elements, such as research, interviews, and film analysis by Matt Bowen, factor in as well.

About to enter his ninth NFL season, Nelson continues to play at an extremely high level. Among all guards this season, Nelson ranked fourth in Pro Football Focus' pass-blocking efficiency and fourth in run-blocking grade.

He is an eight-time Pro Bowler and has made six All-Pro teams in his career.

"Some drop-off but still elite," an NFC executive told Fowler. "[He] was No. 1 for a long time, but the Smiths (Tyler and Trey) and [Quinn] Meinerz are on his heels."

Fowler wrote that Nelson has been a "beacon of consistency" for the Colts, with voters agreeing that he is still "very much an anchor" up front at age 30.

"Can anchor, bend, wide," an AFC exec told Fowler. "Not as dominant as before but better than he was in 2024."

Nelson is entering the final year of his current deal. ESPN's Bill Barnwell wrote recently that Nelson's next contract could make him the highest-paid guard in the NFL.
