After his first NFL season, the Indianapolis Colts' Tyler Warren is already ranked among the best tight ends in the NFL.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler continues to put together his rankings of the top 10 players at each position group. However, what makes these rankings unique is that a total of 70 NFL execs, coaches, and scouts were the voters. Other elements, such as research, interviews, and film analysis by Matt Bowen, factor in as well.
With all of that input and information taken into account, Fowler listed Warren as the fifth-best tight end in football entering the 2026 season.
Warren finished the season as one of the most productive tight ends in the game, catching 76 passes for 817 yards with four touchdowns. He was named a Pro Bowler as well.
His impact, however, goes well beyond the passing game.
Warren's ability to help in the run game and his versatility add a level of unpredictability to the offense because he is able to wear so many different hats.
This provides Shane Steichen with greater flexibility as he puts together game plans and can open up opportunities not only for Warren but for his teammates.
As good as Warren was in Year 1, oftentimes we see many successful NFL players make a big jump in Year 2. The experience gained over the last year, along with the continuity of being in the same system for a second offseason, can faciliate that leap.
One specific area of focus for Warren this offseason has been on better maintaining separation throughout his routes, which can help foster more explosive plays.

"He lived up to expectations," an NFC scout said to Fowler. "He's a true Y who can handle the point-of-attack run game assignments but carried over his versatile, game-impacting receiving ability that showed up during his Penn State days."

"He can kick your a-- in the run game on one play and win as a receiver on the next," an NFL personnel evaluator told Fowler.
