Kyle Jorgensen will be back.
In the modern era of college sports, retaining key players is a big part of the offseason and the Colorado State men's basketball team has landed a significant win.
Jorgensen announced April 2 on social media that he will return to the Rams for his junior season, simply saying "unfinished business" in his post.
Jorgensen blossomed during his sophomore season, showing star potential. He also battled injury, which derailed some of his early-season momentum.
The 6-foot-9 Jorgensen plays center for CSU and when on the floor he is the key pivot spot in the offense, which is often the fulcrum for the attack.
He averaged a team-high 15.2 points per game in nonconference play, twice hitting 25 points or more. He hit a scorching 58% of his 3-pointers in nonconference play (18-31).
Then he injured his knee just minutes into the Mountain West opener at Utah State and missed the next five games.
Conference play was tougher for him after he returned. Jorgensen averaged 10 points per game and shot 40% from 3-point range in MW play. Defenses were keying on him and it's hard to say what impact the injury had on his health the rest of the season.

For the season, Jorgensen finished with 27 starts in 28 games played at 26 minutes per night. He averaged 11.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. Jorgensen shot 52% from the floor and 40% from 3-point range.
It was a big jump for Jorgensen, who played 13 minutes per game in 2024-25 as a freshman on CSU's 2025 NCAA Tournament team. He averaged 4.1 points per game as a freshman.
