Ole Miss and Troy will face off in a College World Series elimination game, and the Rebels will send veteran lefthander Hunter Elliott to the mound for a start.
Elliott became a legend at Ole Miss for starting as a freshman in the game that clinched the 2022 national title for the Rebels. A win today to stave off elimination would further cement his legacy in the program, not that it needs much more accomplishment to do so.
The Rebels need Elliott to return to form and keep Troy off the scoreboard with a quality start to give its bullpen another chance in Omaha. The winner of this afternoon game will play the loser of the West Virginia/North Carolina game to be played later today.
Troy has shown it can score runs in bunches during its Cinderella campaign to the final eight in college baseball. Ole Miss’ offense on the other hand has been hit or miss with only two runs scored in its opening game.
