Apr. 8—After helping lead the Falcons to their first four-game sweep of the season at Sul Ross State University, UTPB senior infielder Carson Johnson has been named the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week, the LSC announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Johnson hit .571 with two home runs, four doubles and 11 RBI's. Johnson also scored 13 runs — including at least two in each game — and walked six times (once intentionally). His on-base percentage was .700 and he struck out just once. Johnson homered and doubled to lead a 15-14 extra-inning win in Game 3 to secure the series. He played errorless defense with time at third base, second base and first base.
It is the second week in a row a Falcon baseball player has been named an LSC Player of the Week after Timmy LaChappa was the Pitcher of the Week last week.
Next up, Johnson and the rest of the Falcons return home to host Oklahoma Christian University this weekend (April 11-13). Game one is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, March 11, from Roden Field.
