The Seattle Seahawksre-signed wide receiver Cody White earlier this week. The former Michigan State standout entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and joined the Seahawks in 2023. White is back to compete for a roster spot in 2026.
It's worth remembering White made the Seahawks' initial 53-man roster last offseason. Head coach Mike Macdonald obviously appreciates what he brings to the special teams unit. White appeared in 10 games and recorded three receptions for 90 yards and one explosive touchdown versus the Commanders. He also returned four kickoffs, gaining 106 yards.
The Seahawks have Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp at receiver. John Schneider managed to re-sign Rashid Shaheed before he hit free agency, retaining his top three wideouts from last season. It won't be easy for White to make the 53-man roster, but his versatility on special teams creates an opportunity.
The Seahawks have Tory Horton entering his sophomore season and he'll almost certainly be the fourth receiver on the depth chart. From there, White will compete for one or two final roster spots at the position with Jake Bobo, Ricky White III, and any wideouts the Seahawks acquire during the 2026 NFL draft (or undrafted free agency).
