The Seattle Seahawks re-signed cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles earlier this week. A former fifth-round selection out of Appalachian State, Jean-Charles initially signed with the Seahawks last offseason, then spent the 2025 season on the practice squad. Retaining him highlights John Schneider's appreciation for keeping in-house talents.

Jean-Charles did not play a single snap for the Seahawks in 2025. He returns to a cornerback room that kept Josh Jobe, but lost Riq Woolen to free agency. Perhaps that'll help Jean-Charles compete for a 53-man roster spot this time around.

Jean-Charles becomes the 12th-plus depth or back-end roster player to be re-signed by the Seahawks this offseason. Others included running backs George Holani and Jacardia Wright, long snapper Chris Stoll, offensive lineman Josh Jones, wide receivers Cody White, Jake Bobo, and Tyrone Broden, safeties A.J. Finley and D'Anthony Bell, and others.

The Seahawks lost talents like Woolen, Coby Bryant, and Boye Mafe to free agency. They recently signed Jaxon Smith-Njigba to a historic extension and also re-signed Rashid Shaheed. The Seahawks will have four picks in the 2026 NFL draft to help replace some of the outgoings.

Schneider and the Seahawks obviously believe keeping the locker room mostly in-tact could lead to another Super Bowl title in 2027.
