It’s officially Blockie season on PGA Tour Champions.

Everyone’s favorite PGA club professional at the PGA Championship turned 50 less than two weeks ago on June 15 and is set to make his Champions tour debut this week at the Dick’s Open in Endicott, New York, at En-Joie Golf Club.

It marks the first event for which he is eligible on the over-50 circuit as well as the first time he’ll tee it up in the Empire State since finishing T-15 at the 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill in Rochester, New York. His result was the best finish by a club pro since 1986.

Who can forget his ace in the final round playing alongside Rory McIlroy? He went from social media darling to overexposed rather quickly but it’s hard to fault him for chasing the opportunities that came his way. By the time “The Block Party” had run its course, he’d become a somewhat polarizing figure in the golf community thanks to his goofy social media presence and emotional interviews. It's no secret that some people don't like him, but he doesn't care.

“I’m a club pro who had a great event and I’ve kind of lived off that for the last couple years,” Block said. “Obviously it’s been tough out there trying to compete against the kids on the regular Tour. I’m super excited to come out here, where I am no longer the short guy, I am no longer the old guy.”

Block is a nine-time Southern California PGA Player of the Year, and the head professional at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo, California. A month ago, he competed in the PGA Championship at Aronimink, his fifth straight year qualifying for the men’s major. He delivered one of the quotes of the week after opening with even-par 70. "I was in the bathroom on hole 12 or 13 today, and there was no mirror, so I wasn't looking at myself. But I said, 'You got this.' You're actually pretty good, buddy,'" Block said.

A month after competing in the PGA, he makes his senior tour debut at the 54-hole event beginning Friday on an unrestricted sponsor exemption.

“The weird part about it is that I’m actually probably a little bit more nervous playing on this tour than even just in the PGA Championship a month ago,” Block said. “Because I never grew up idolizing the guys that are out on the regular tour. I grew up idolizing these guys. So actually my idols are here not on the regular tour.”
