The Dallas Mavericks are reportedly in talks with the Los Angeles Clippers to land Kawhi Leonard. Their package includes P.J. Washington, Klay Thompson and draft picks. The news has circulated on social media among NBA fans, with many expressing mixed reactions.
Clippers fans are not happy and think the offer is not enough for a player of Leonard’s caliber. He is a two-time NBA champion, seven-time All-Star and two-time Defensive Player of the Year, among other accolades. The potential trade will shakeup the Western Conference.

Underdog NBA posted the update on X and fans dropped their thoughts in the comments section.
“If the Clippers do that, just relegate the franchise,” a user wrote.
“The Clippers somehow always find a way to start another rebuild without calling it a rebuild,” one reaction read.
“If we don’t get anything else legit this is disgusting. Ask for lively L-Frank,” a fan said.
“kawhi for a bag of chips ***** and s***** drawls,” posted another.
“Did I read Klay and PJ for Kawhi trade?? Lfrank please be a man,” one comment read.
“If the clippers accept this trade plz boot that dumb ahh franchise out the NBA,” another fan commented.
Mavericks president Masai Ujiri and Leonard have history with the Toronto Raptors. The front office executive traded for the the seven-time All-NBA team member and he led the franchise to a championship. However, Leonard took his talents to the Clippers the following season.

Leonard appeared and started 65 games for Los Angeles in 2025-26. He averaged a career-high 27.9 points, along with 6.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.9 steals. While his numbers were impressive, his performances were not enough to lead the team to playoffs.
The Clippers failed to advance the first round in the three previous campaigns. The lack of success could lead to a full rebuild, and it starts with moving their franchise player.
