The Philadelphia 76ers have a new President of Basketball Operations in the form of Mike Gansey. The former 2006 All Big East Team member with West Virginia played professionally overseas before heading over to the Cleveland Cavaliers to work in their front office. He worked hard and was promoted to the team's GM in 2022 before the Sixers brought him over to Philadelphia.

Gansey was instrumental in identifying talent for the Cavaliers as he was able to help facilitate the additions of Sam Merrill and Max Strus as well as finding diamonds in the rough such as Dean Wade, Craig Porter Jr., and others. He will look to bring that eye for talent to Philadelphia and help the Sixers climb the ladder in the East.

Cleveland sports radio hosts Nick Wilson and Jonathan Peterlin gave their thoughts to the Cavs losing Gansey to the Sixes as there seems to be a somber mood in Cleveland:

It’s awesome for Mike Gansey. It stinks for the Cavs. A lot of people really think the world of Mike Gansey.

Gansey enters an interesting situation in Philadelphia. The Sixers, obviously, have a ton of talent, but there are holes to fill on the roster and questions to answer. It will be up to Gansey to get in a room with his new front office and hammer out the best way for this franchise to improve going forward.
