Jarren Purify gave Clemson fans another reason to keep their eyes firmly on the Clemson Press as he has just put together an electric outing in the MLB Draft League.

The Clemson infielder hit his first MLB Draft League home run for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, adding late insurance in an 8-5 win over State College. The blast traveled 406 feet, according to MLB Draft League coverage, making it the league’s second 400-plus-foot home run of the summer.

Purify finished Clemson’s 2026 season as one of the more interesting players on the roster. He was not always the cleanest player statistically, but he became one of the Tigers’ most watchable pieces because of the energy, speed and spark he brought to the lineup. Clemson fans latched onto him during a rough season, and by the end of the year, he felt like one of the few players who consistently made things happen.

Through his early run with Mahoning Valley, Purify is hitting .200 with a .400 on-base percentage and an .867 OPS across four games. The extra-base damage, walks, and power flash are the parts that matter in a short summer sample.

The question Clemson fans care about is obvious: will Purify be back in orange, or is this summer the start of his next step toward professional baseball?

That part still has to play out. Purify has the speed, defensive versatility, and athletic profile that pro teams can talk themselves into. Clemson would obviously love to have him back, especially after a season that ended with the program missing the NCAA Tournament, yet one where he absolutely exploded in productivity.

A 406-foot home run in the MLB Draft League is not a joke at all, and it gives Purify's already high chances of being drafted or snagged up by a more well-known baseball program. So keep your eyes peeled; we'll have everything Purify-related here on the Clemson Wire.
