It seems the tide may be turning on interest in a trade of Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Boston Celtics. A day after plenty of cold water was thrown on Boston having any interest in dealing for the Greek Freak, we come across another well-connected NBA reporter with ties to the Celtics who is all the way out on Boston trading for Antetokounmpo this offseason.
Sports Illustrated reporter Chris Mannix recently guested on the "Jim Rome Show," and the topic of the Celtics dealing for Giannis came up. "It would be insanity for the Celtics to do a deal like that – insanity," said Mannix. "On paper, sure. Great. Giannis might be better than Jaylen Brown. Probably is better than Jaylen Brown. As at 100 percent, Giannis is still one of the best two-way players in the game."
"But over the last couple of years, Giannis has not shown that he's healthy," he continued. "He's battled soft tissue injuries over the last two years. He does not seem to have the kind of game that is going to mature all that well."
"Still going to be a really good player, but the fact that we've been dealing with calf strains with Giannis at this stage of his career and you've got to turn around and give him a five-year max contract as a result of that, that is nuts," continued Mannix.
"There could be some calls that could take place," said the SI reporter. "I would expect there will be. But if I'm the Celtics, nope, hard pass. Jaylen Brown is on my team next year."

"Whatever warts that you may think Jaylen Brown has in his game, they have won with him. They've won a championship with him two years ago. He should have been top five in MVP. Was fifth in my ballot. He should be first team All-NBA this year. You don't trade 29-year-old players like that just because your season ended badly in the first round and maybe you don't like what he says in some of these Twitch streams. You keep players like that. You build around players like that. You know that (Jayson) Tatum and Brown work. You know they're a championship duo. Why oh why would you ever consider breaking that up? Because you went out in the first round in a season that no one thought you were even going to make the playoffs in, much less look like the number two the one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference?"
