Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Andrew Armstrong spoke with reporters after practice on Monday at Missouri Western State University. He opened up about his familiarity with the coaches and system after minicamp and practice while trying to make the final roster.
"I love (WR) Coach (Chad) O'Shea. He is going to be hard on me, but that is the type of coach I love to play for," said Armstrong, "A coach that is really going to get on you and going to tell you what to do—the small details. That is exactly what Coach O'Shea does. When I get that coaching from him, I love it. That is the type of way I want to be coached."
Armstrong signed a reserve/future contract with the Chiefs back in early January. He spent last year briefly on the practice squads of the Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions after going undrafted in 2025.
"Just work. It was not too much of knowing the best way to earn a roster spot; it was just coming in, working, and knowing that nothing is given to nobody," said Armstrong. "I knew that I was going to have to come in here and be the type of player that I can be. Being the best type of player on and off the field, in the training room, inside the locker room, and a great teammate. It's the little things like that that help me come in here and fight for a spot."
During the 2024 college season, Armstrong had a team-high 78 receptions for 1,140 receiving yards and 1 receiving touchdown. He was named 1st-team All-SEC by the AP, 2nd-team All-SEC by the Coaches, and Phil Steele All-American Honorable Mention.
