Kansas City Chiefs legend Dante Hall is an NFL Alumni ambassador for the ‘GEAR UP Against Cancer’campaign’s fight against lung cancer, in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Division of Cancer Prevention and Control.
Hall is among more than a dozen NFL Alumni ambassadors who will conduct outreach and education about the impact of lung cancer, the steps that can be taken to prevent it, the benefits of and need for regular screenings for adults at high risk for developing lung cancer, and the actions that survivors can take to stay healthy.
The Chiefs Ring of Honor member left an undeniable mark on the franchise and the league. Hall returned 360 kickoffs for 8,644 yards with six touchdowns and 188 punts for 1,882 yards with five touchdowns. As a receiver, he tallied 145 receptions for 1,615 yards with nine touchdowns and 215 yards as a rusher.
Statistics show that men have higher rates of lung cancer diagnosis and death than women, and that cigarette smoking is the number one risk factor. Through listening sessions and other activities, the campaign will connect with survivors to better understand their needs and raise awareness of available services.
