The Kansas City Chefs have announced their special team awards for the 2025 season. George Karlaftis wins the 2025 Ed Block Courage Award, showing grit and bravery well beyond the football field.
The Ed Block Courage Award is annually presented to one member of each team and recognizes a player who exemplifies commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and courage.
"I know one thing about this team that whoever is going to get the opportunity is going to step up and make the most out of it," said Karlaftis to reporters before Week 16, helping to inspire his teammates, "There's guys that haven't seen the field all year that are hungry. Guys that want to prove what they're made of and all that stuff. Whoever's out there, that's what coach said, whoever's out there is going to play to the best of their abilities and finish this thing out strong."
Karlaftis finished last season with 48 total tackles and six sacks in 16 games. He also had a fumble recovery with two pass deflections.
All of the team awards were voted on by the players themselves, reflecting the locker room's true feelings about the starting defensive end.
