Both Lyubushkin & Fischer were waivers exempt; the only two AHL-eligible players that held that distinction. The Coyotes are now under the salary cap. LTIR now becomes an option as the season begins. Again, we'll hear from Chayka soon.

Coyotes GM John Chayka confirms Christian Fischer's AHL (Tucson) assignment was a paper transaction. Fischer will be with the club that heads to Anaheim on Wednesday. Ilya Lyubushkin will stay in Tucson & get some reps. Coyotes will put Marian Hossa on LTIR for cap flexibility.

Coyotes GM John Chayka on the plan for goalie Eric Comrie (and 3 goalies on the roster): Antti Raanta is still getting up to speed after such a long layoff so this gives them a third option.

On Lyubushkin, it's a different story: "He'll go down and get a lot of opportunity, a lot of ice time, play a lot of minutes down there but still a part of our team and our future."

That makes a lot more sense now. I don't think many Yotes fans are accustomed to these type of moves to keep us under the cap!

If you're wondering who the 7th D might be that the Coyotes call up and take to Anaheim on Wednesday, hearing it will be Kyle Capobianco. That would clearly be a good sign that Capobianco (ACL surgery) is feeling healthy.
