The Charlotte Hornets brought in Collin Sexton from the Utah Jazz last summer, acquiring him for center Jusuf Nurkic to add guard depth behind LaMelo Ball. Although he played quite well in the first half of the season, the Hornets decided to move on from Sexton, sending him and more to the Chicago Bulls in return for Coby White. Despite transitioning from a starter to a backup point guard, Sexton continued to score, having now averaged 15 points or more in seven of his eight NBA seasons.

In 42 games for the Hornets before the trade, Sexton proved himself as one of the better backup point guards in the association, averaging 14.2 points, 3.7 assists, 1.9 rebounds and 0.9 steals in 22.3 minutes per game. Sexton's shooting averages were slightly higher than those throughout his career, averaging 48.8% on field goals and 39.3% on 3-point attempts. While trading him for White was ultimately a good move, the Hornets certainly missed Sexton's hustle and defense on the perimeter after his departure. This summer Sexton will be an unrestricted free agent and has already begun drawing interest from teams in need of point guard depth.

Overall grade: A-
