Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert handed out massive praise to rookie wide receiver Brenen Thompson following a standout performance on day one of training camp.

Selected in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft to inject speed into their offense, Thompson quickly turned heads during the opening practice session, highlight-reeling a sliding grab on a sharp pass from Herbert.

When asked about the former Mississippi State product's instant impact, Herbert did not hold back his excitement. "He's gonna be very good," Herbert stated to ESPN's Kris Rhim. "We saw it early on that he was gonna be. He's skilled. He's fast. He's gonna make a lot of plays for us."

Thompson, who clocked a blistering 4.26-second 40-yard dash, is expected to thrive as a deep-threat specialist under new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. While it's early, this brewing quarterback-receiver connection is already flashing potential to what could be a deadly big-play threat this season.
