This season has been a slog for the Boston Red Sox's offense, but this week in Kansas City, their bats finally woke up.
The Red Sox pounded out 35 hits in their three-game sweep of the Royals, outscoring Kansas City 14-5. They also finally got some big hits with runners in scoring position, going 9-for-30 (.300 batting average) in those situations.
Boston showed some power, too, homering in every game of the series. The Red Sox also displayed some resilience in Wednesday's series finale, overcoming multiple deficits in their 4-3 victory.
After Wednesday's win, interim manager Chad Tracy praised Boston's bats and tenacity.

"Very satisfying, particularly with how we did it," Tracy told NESN during his postgame interview. "Bats kinda came to life this week, which was really nice to see. And then to be trailing and get another big swing from Jarren and win in comeback fashion was very satisfying."
Tracy highlighted Jarren Duran in particular, who led the Red Sox with two home runs, six RBI and several good defensive plays during the series.
"He's taken some really, really big at-bats right now," Tracy added. "He's doing very well."
Tracy also credited Boston's impressive fielding, which has been phenomenal all season.
"The defense has been amazing," Tracy added. "The defense has been outstanding."
With their offense heating up and their pitching and defense holding strong, the Red Sox are firing on all cylinders. They'll try to pick up where they left off and continue their hot streak in Minnesota this weekend against the Twins.
