Chad Tracy Makes Bold Comment On Willson Contreras After Late Home Run originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Boston Red Sox picked up a huge 3-2 win over the Atlanta Braves on Saturday, backed by a late home run by Willson Contreras.
In the bottom of the eighth, Contreras hit a two-run home run, which put Boston up 3-2 and ended up being the difference in the game.
Following the win, Red Sox’s interim manager Chad Tracy had plenty of praise for Contreras and what he means to the offense.
"Huge, huge, Tracy said after the game on Saturday. “He's our guy. That guy is our presence in the middle of the order that can do instant damage. And that changed the dugout in a hurry with that swing.”
The comeback win was also an important one for Boston, as it was the team’s irst go-ahead home run in the eighth inning or later in Boston’s first 45 games, and it was the Red Sox’s first win in 22 tries when trailing after seven innings.
Contreras, meanwhile, said the home run was just relief for him as he believes it will allow him to break out of a slump, as he had just one RBI in his last 24 at-bats.
"For me, it’s like a relief feeling,” Contreras said. “It’s like, finally I’m able to have that swing to help the team even more, so how the last few weeks are going.”
Boston will look for the series win on Sunday at 1:35 p.m. ET.
