Apr. 14—Centerville High School graduate Gabe Cupps will transfer from Ohio State to the University of Illinois Chicago.

Cupps, a 6-foot-2 guard, made the decision Tuesday, April 14, eight days after entering the transfer portal. He averaged 1.7 points in 12.3 minutes per game in one season at Ohio State. He made 33 appearances.

Cupps spent his first two seasons at Indiana. As a sophomore, an injury limited him to four appearances, ahd he received a medical redshirt. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Alter grad transferring to Southern Conference program

UIC finished 19-16 last season in coach Rob Ehsan's second season. The Flames broke a four-year streak of losing records with a 17-14 finish in his first season.

UIC has spent the last four seasons in the Missouri Valley Conference after a long run in the Horizon League. It last played in the NCAA tournament in 2004.
