Josh Tyson, a Lakota West standout and a top high school basketball recruit, announced July 3 he will transfer to a new school out of the state.
Tyson announced on his Instagram he is heading to Indiana to attend La Lumiere School in northwest Indiana. La Lumiere has been a national basketball power, graduating NBA stars Isaiah Stewart and Jordan Poole.
A four-star recruit by 247Sports, Tyson ranked as the No. 5 player in the 2027 class in Ohio. Tyson was the Greater Miami Conference Player of the Year last season, leading Lakota West to a 24-2 record and the Division I regional finals.
The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 16.3 points, 3.8 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game and shot almost 63% from the field for the Firebirds last season.
Tyson visited the Cincinnati Bearcats in May and also has offers from Xavier, Ohio State, Michigan State and West Virginia.
