Unfortunately for Boston Celtics fans, they're getting used to the sight of Jayson Tatum leaving a playoff game with an untimely injury.
It happened when he suffered an ankle injury at the beginning of Game 7 of the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals, and again when he tore his Achilles tendon toward the end of Game 4 of the 2025 Eastern Conference Semifinals. This time, it happened during the third quarter of Game 6 against the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday.
Not surprisingly, the Celtics lost all three games.
Tatum, who missed most of the regular season recovering from his Achilles injury, was seen walking to the locker room with an apparent injury in the third quarter.

The severity of the injury was not immediately clear. He returned to the bench with ice on his leg but did not return to the game.
Tatum's injury cut short what was shaping up to be a great night for him. In 29 minutes before exiting, he had 17 points, 11 rebounds and three assists.
The Celtics were already losing at the time of Tatum's injury and were unable to recover without him, suffering their second straight loss.
Tatum's status is now in jeopardy for Game 7 in Boston on Saturday. If he's sidelined, the Celtics will be hard-pressed to stop a Sixers team that has all the momentum after back-to-back wins.
