Boston Celtics star forward Jaylen Brown thought he was deserving of a spot on the All-NBA First Team for the 2025-26 NBA season, but he's not surprised that he instead landed on the Second Team.

During the regular season, Brown played in 71 games for Boston and averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.0 steal per performance. His productive play was a big part of the reason that the Celtics were able to remain at the top of the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference despite the fact that star forward Jayson Tatum missed the majority of the season while recovering from an Achilles tear.

But despite his gaudy numbers, Brown thinks that his reputation may have negatively impacted him when it came to All-NBA voting.

“I’m going to be honest, I’m not surprised. I’m not the most liked player in the media. At times, I’m not the most liked by the fans, so I’m not surprised. Some of the things I say and do is a little controversial," Brown said of his Second Team selection, via The Boston Herald.

"So, I’m surprised that I win any awards at all at times. I’m not on the first team, but hey, shoutout to those who made the first team.”

Those five plyers who made the First Team ahead of Brown were Victor Wembanyama, Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Cade Cunningham and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

While Brown may have been deserving of a First Team nod, so were all of the players who actually made it, so it's tough to say that Brown should have made it over any of them given the enormous impact that they all had on their respective squads.

Brown now has two All-NBA Second Team selections to his name, as he also made the Second Team in 2023. He's never received a First Team nod.
