March just began with the winter sports winding down, the spring sports getting underway, but it's never too early to predict what's going to happen with the upcoming football season, even though it's six months away.

In CBS Sports' "way-too-early" predictions for the season, they have the Ducks as one of the top teams in the nation and making the 12-team playoff for the second straight season. They have Oregon hosting a playoff once again, but this time as the 7-seed, and it would host the 10-seed Ole Miss at Autzen Stadium Dec. 19.

The Ducks were the 5-seed last season and hosted the 12-seed James Madison. If CBS is reading the tea leaves correctly, it would be a tougher road for the Ducks than it was in 2025 when it hosted the Dukes and then played Texas Tech in the Orange Bowl.

Assuming Oregon defeats the Rebels at home, the Ducks would then have to go to Dallas and face the 2-seed Texas in the Cotton Bowl. That's not exactly the Yellow Brick Road that is going to the National Championship Game in Las Vegas.

An Oregon-Ole Miss matchup would be one of the top matchups of the first round of the playoffs, as it would feature two of the top quarterbacks in the country with the Ducks' Dante Moore and Ole Miss signal caller Trinidad Chambliss.

The Rebels didn't know if Chambliss would be available for another season, as he was initially denied a sixth season, but after a court ruling in his favor, Chambliss will be back making plays in Oxford.

On the other side is Moore, who turned down big bucks as a possible top NFL draft pick, will be looking to lead the Ducks to their first-ever national title.
