Ever since a bevy of Oregon Ducks made decisions to spurn the 2026 NFL Draft and return to Eugene for one more season, it's been a known commodity that the 2027 first round may be a coming out party for a handful of Ducks.
In CBS Sports' most recent mock draft written by Chris Hummer, that sentiment is accentuated — though the placement of the first pick may come as a surprise.
Per Hummer's mock, no Duck is selected in the first 12 picks, with the Pittsburgh Steelers getting the party started with their selection of Oregon quarterback Dante Moore at No. 13. They'll need a quarterback with the confirmed retirement of Aaron Rodgers after the 2026 season, and Moore will provide talent and experience as the potential Day 1 starter in Pittsburgh.
Next up, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, already employing running back Bucky Irving and wide receiver Tez Johnson on offense, add yet another former Duck in tight end Jamari Johnson at No. 16. He makes it the second straight draft in which an Oregon tight end is selected in the first round, following in Kenyon Sadiq's shoes.
"The other tight end in Oregon's room last year, Johnson had a ton of production next to Kenyon Sadiq with 510 yards and three touchdowns on 15.9 yards per catch," Hummer wrote. "The 6-foot-5, 257-pound tight end is a run-after-the-catch threat and a friendly (and massive) target for his quarterback."
Another lull occurred in the draft until another Duck was selected, with the defensive lineman A'Mauri Washington going at No. 29 to the San Francisco 49ers. Washington was excellent in his first season as the starter in 2025, amassing 33 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss, proving himself as a dominant run defender and a capable collapse-the-pocket pass rusher.
Standing 6-foot-3 and 330 pounds, Washington was in position to be a first-rounder had he declared for the 2026 draft, but he, along with the entire defensive line, decided to give it one more run with the Ducks. In this scenario, he gets one more season with the Ducks in 2026 and still ends up being a first round pick with an organization that is trying to make a Super Bowl run.
Edge rusher Teitum Tuioti rounds out the Ducks selected in the 2027 first round of Hummer's mock, going at No. 31 to the Los Angeles Chargers.
"Far from the biggest name on Oregon's defensive line, Tuioti emerged as the unit's most productive player last year," Hummer wrote. "He posted 16 TFLs and 9.5 sacks along with a healthy 15% pass rush win rate. Tuioti has long arms for his 6-foot-3 frame and also posted a nearly 10-foot broad jump in high school. He's an explosive, toolsy pass rusher who's gotten better every season."
Considering the Chargers had the 31st pick, that means they're coming off a loss in the Super Bowl. That pits Tuioti in a win-now situation, a common denominator with every single landing spot for the four Ducks. If that were to happen, despite Moore falling, it would be a significant win, as the former Oregon standouts would be in prime positions to succeed right away.
