Florida basketball is picking up steam as March Madness quickly approaches.
The Gators have run off three-straight wins over the past two weeks and have grabbed sole position of first place atop the SEC standings after pummelling the Texas A&M Aggies on their home court on Saturday night, 86-67. Their stock has improved in both of the major polls, landing at No. 14 in both the Coaches Poll and AP Top 25, and their outlook on the NCAA Tournament is getting more bullish as well.
CBS Sports' latest bracketology offering follows that trend, with Todd Golden's team sitting at a No. 3 seed in the West Region. That pairs the Orange and Blue up with the No. 14 seed Winthrop Eagles in the first round.
The top four seeds in CBS Sports' bracketology look a little different than before this past weekend. The undefeated Arizona Wildcats still hold the top overall seed as well as the No. 1 spot in the West, while the Michigan Wolverines sit atop the Midwest and the Duke Blue Devils are perched above the East.
The difference is that the Houston Cougars are now the No. 1 seed in the South, instead of the UConn Huskies who lost to the St. John's Red Storm on Friday.
The Southeastern Conference has a whopping 11 member schools in this bracketology update, headlined by Florida with the No. 3 seed in the West. The Vanderbilt Commodores and Alabama Crimson Tide are the next up with No. 4 seeds in the Midwest and East, respectively, followed by the Arkansas Razorbacks (No. 5, West), Tennessee Volunteers (No. 6, West), Kentucky Wildcats (No. 6, Midwest), Auburn Tigers (No. 8, East) and Georgia Bulldogs (No. 9, South).
Texas A&M and the Texas Longhorns land at No. 10 in the Midwest and South, respectively, while the Missouri Tigers round out the conference representation with the No. 11 seeds in the South and a spot among the last four in.
