Anyone who asks Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell whether he assigns greater value to individual accolades or team success will receive the same answer.

Mitchell would rather the Cavs be in control of the Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Knicks than be recognized for his performance in the 2025-26 NBA regular season.

But with the Cavs trailing the Knicks 3-0 in their best-of-seven playoff series, the league announced its All-NBA Teams on Sunday, May 24. Mitchell was voted All-NBA Second Team. In all-league honors, Mitchell is the lone representative for Cleveland, which lost 121-108 to New York in Game 3 on Saturday, May 23, at Rocket Arena.

How many times has Donovan Mitchell been voted All-NBA?

This is the third time Mitchell has been named to an All-NBA Team. He was a first-team selection last season and a second-team pick in 2022-23, his first season with the Cavs after they acquired him in a trade with the Utah Jazz.

Mitchell, 29, is the third player in Cavs history with multiple All-NBA selections, joining LeBron James (10 times) and Mark Price (four times). Like James and Price, Mitchell has now made an All-NBA Team in consecutive seasons as a member of the Cavs. No other players have accomplished the feat.

Earlier this season, Mitchell became a seven-time NBA All-Star. He is playing in the conference finals for the first time in his career after falling short of advancing beyond the second round in each of his first eight NBA seasons.
