Oddly the offensive tackle pool this year was thought to be shallow. However the all star games changed some minds. I’ve talked to a few scouts who said they’re beginning to worry about line coaching at several colleges. They said the group showed more talent than they displayed during the regular season, especially against premier edge rushers. The Cards should be able to enhance their line without trading down. Of course if they want a day one starter they may still have to move.

This isn’t anything new. Offensive line used to be the safest pick in the draft now it’s the biggest gamble and even the good ones are taking a few years to adjust

so true

Eric Fisher and Jake Matthews are examples of tackles taken very high, and two years in people were questioning if they would make it

they are both solid pros now

i am a proponent of taking o-linemen from programs that still line up in two TEs and run the ball a regular part of their offense- Stanford, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan (to an extent). ND, while spread-y, seems like their prospects live up to billing as well

do you think we can pull a day 1 RT with that 33 pick??? perhaps with a small trade up to around 26 or so?

There are several small school prospects that the Cardinals can season at right tackle then switch to left for 2020. The Raiders went small school with the first pick in the third round last year.

Without a doubt...maybe even LT.

RT options: don’t forget we also have Corey Cunningham and maybe Barksdale.

I am expecting a run on tackles in round 1. This may necessitate a small move. I need to see the Combine numbers. They’re nfar more meaningful for linemen. Right now I’d say there are 3-4 LTs. Remember duplication but I’m guessing 5-6 RTs that can start day one with some success.

I watch YouTube scouting videos by Voch Lombardi, he has a couple out already on Cajuste & Little. I think he is very good with his analysis as he mentions he is a former OL (C I believe) so he does provide some good insight in his reviews. I am waiting to see his scouting of Andre Dillard. Dillard's stock depends on who you ask, I've seen him going late 1st round to 3rd round. I think he is the third OT taken in Round 1 behind Williams and Taylor. I don't think he makes it to #33 but if he does I like him as our LTOF because he has the feet and played in the same system at WAZZU that KK will be implementing a version of next year. He needs to get stronger but he has nice size at 6'5 310. I was thinking if they could take him in Round 2 and Cajuste in Round 3 to play RT they'd make a good OT tandem. Of course depending on what happens with Barksdale, maybe he gets better offers than ARZ. I think ARZ should go FA route at OG, not really sold on Pugh coming off knee surgery but his cap hit is too large to justify cutting. Ideally, Ramon Foster and Roger Saffold would be my ideal OL FA acquisitions but Pugh's contract is coming back to bite Keim in the ass.

Can we compare LT's?

J Taylor out of Florida
Andre Dillard - Washington St.
David Edwards - Wisconsin
Yodney Cajuste - West Virginia

Please no more big contracts for free agent guards.

Get out of here with that small school crap, Keim! Down in the 5th and later rounds? Fine. Otherwise, hell no.

Because we would never want to waste a second round pick on someone like Michael Roos, right?

I like 3 of these Pipkins competition was so weak he’s hard to evaluate. They all need coaching and will have to be developed.

I only like Dillard for a day one starter.

Who were your day 1 LTs then?

They kept at RT only due to Ramychyzk (or whatever) being at LT in 2017, and they wanted to keep continuity past that. He has the skill set for LT.
I read scouting reports that he did not play well this year at LT and is better suited to play RT in NFL.
