Carli Lloyd annihilates Christian Pulisic with 9-word critique after USA's World Cup-ending loss originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Carli Lloyd saw what Christian Pulisic said.
And the United States women's national team legend was not at all a fan.
This is what Lloyd posted on X on Tuesday, a day after the U.S. men fell to Belgium to bow out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the Round of 16:
MORE: Christian Pulisic gives a terrible answer after World Cup-ending loss
That was in response to Pulisic's post-match comments.
Pulisic had left the game early in the second half after hurting his ankle. There's been a lot of sentiment out there that a star player shouldn't have given up on the game like that.
And while there's no way to know how hurt Pulisic truly was, his thoughts after the match didn't help his cause.
This was Pulisic's response to Fox's Jenny Taft, who asked him what he was "dealing with" that led him to be subbed off:
"I just twisted my ankle, sprained my ankle. It's frustrating to end like that of course. But now I get time to rest, so hopefully it'll be OK."

To be fair to Pulisic, giving answers after a tournament-ending loss can't be the easiest thing.
But that last sentence, "Now I get time to rest," is something brutal for a fanbase to hear immediately after their team was eliminated.
This is a soundbyte world, for better or worse. Pulisic made himself look bad. Lloyd popped up to share her feelings.
Now, fans can decide whose side they fall on.
Regardless, there won't be another men's World Cup game for the United States until at least 2030. Pulisic and his teammates didn't do enough to stay alive in this tournament.
