The Cardinals are 4-0 versus the bottom dwellers in the NFL. I know many like to dismiss other teams good records because they haven't played anybody any good. But legitimate NFL teams take care of those games and win them. No upsets for the Cards so far. To me that makes them a legitimate NFL team.

Hats off to the boys for not overlooking the weak teams they've played and taking care of business. It wasn't always pretty but they did it.

Lets hope those wins give them the confidence to compete against the rest of the schedule which includes 4 teams with winning records.

Agree to a point. Really glad that we are winning the games we need to win.

I believe they started out slow yesterday stuck in "take it for granted mode"

After they got hit in the face enough times they woke up and corrected their attitude.

We can't afford to do that against teams and continue to get away with it. Hope this game wakes them up and BA keeps them focused.

What I'm most impressed about is our second half defense. We simply shut down other teams in the second half.

In the 6 games we've won I believe we are giving up an average of 5 pts.

That being said. Palmer still scares the bejesus out of me.

Oh and DJ, if we suddenly go into a tailspin it's all on YOU! :stick:

:D Yesterday in the game thread right after Floyd dropped another pass I wrote that our WRs just aren't very good. Floyd then goes off for 190 yards receiving. Later I wrote that our secondary was weak. Within minutes they intercept a Henne pass. The Duckjake jinx is alive and well.

But there's nothing in this thread that could backfire. That's why I wrote "I HOPE..."

Yup. And with the exception of the Tampa win, these games have been dominant no-contests. Very, very pleased with how the team is performing, particularly on the road, and when expectations are--not high--but at least not super-low.

I always chuckle when folks attempt to separate the NFL by quality of teams. "Bad Teams", or "Bottom- Dweller" teams... I wonder if that's what Tennessee did the previous week when they lost to Jax? Or if the Colts did that when they got blown out by the Rams?
It's cliche of course, but, the truth is that the NFL is so evenly matched, "Any given Sunday" is truly alive and well...
I honestly don't care what the record of the opponent is or where they are ranked. A W in the NFL is extremely hard to come by - period...
I am not entirely sold on BA, however, I gotta give him his due as this team is 6 & 4 and actually alive and well in the playoff hunt. Never guessed that would be the case this season...

I agree with this. Just trying to figure out the criteria the OP used since the Rams are last in their division and do not have a winning record. What is a bottom dweller if not that?

2 wins or less as of today. At 4-6 the Rams would be in 2nd place in the AFC North and AFC South.

@evansilva: Carson Palmer has completed 79 of his last 110 throws (71.8%) for 952 yards (8.65 YPA), 7 TDs & 2 INTs. #Cardinals on 3-game win streak.

Second half adjustments are phenomenal.

This season, we've given up 27 points in the 3rd quarter and 55 in the 4th quarter this season. So that averages a little over a TD in the second half, per game (8.2 points).

However, in the last 3 games, we've given up 14 points in the 2nd half. Total.

This team takes a while to wake up, but when it does, it is a force to be reckoned with.

It is indeed a pleasant surprise that our boys are able to win east coast road games, albeit against weaker competition.... they all count.

Go Cards!!!

The wins against Carolina and Detroit are both quality wins considering that they are both square in the playoff picture. We are also opening as an early 1 point favorite against Indy. Not too bad.

They are but;

Those are irrelevant to this discussion which focuses on the Cards taking care of business and not taking 2 win teams lightly or looking past Jacksonville to the Colts.

I'd still say we are a better team and we lost to them so we have been upset once this season. That's all.

We have beaten every team we SHOULD have beaten, except the Rams.

Yea the Rams are certainly bottom feeder material. Plus up 10 with 7 minutes to go and we choked. I do agree with the basic premise if the thread though!

It was the first game of the season and the Rams were considered the better team at the time. Funny I don't remember the Cards being favored in that one.

So no upset.

I'd say the Rams are about an average quality NFL team. A lot of times it's about injuries and matchups. The Cards haven't seemed to match up well with the Rams lately. Their DL has been eating us alive.

What happened to our ST's yesterday (a red flag that we weren't ready to come out of the box with fire in our eyes)?

- We didn't gain much return yardage.

-Jax averaged 36.0 yards per kickoff return.

- Zastudil only dropped one punt inside the 20.

- Jax kept us repeatedly bottled up in "field position hell."

Very uncharacteristic of our ST play.

Our gunners are both hurt. I know that hurt our punt game and will continue to do so.

The Rams, right now, with a few weeks of Kellen Clemmens under their belt, are exactly a league-average team, according to the advanced metrics. 16th in DVOA (-2.9%), 26th in offensive DVOA, 15th in defensive DVOA, and 6th in special teams.

Kellen Clemmens has been the difference in their record. They've had the 22nd-easiest schedule in the NFL so far. They have the hardest schedule in the NFL the rest of the year.
