Depending on the money, I don’t have a problem with his return. He was pretty solid and had a lot of touchbacks so he has the leg strength. My main concern is a nagging hip injury. That’s not good for anyone let along a NFL kicker.

Maybe Prater will provide a strong veteran presence for all of our coaches who are younger than him. That's all I got.
Ha! Nice.
We are rebuilding. Kicker is far from a high priority if you ask me.
youre right. Which is why it makes no sense making it a priority to sign one on the second day of FA, to a two year deal with a mediocre/injury prone old man.

This goes a long way to make sure we put points on the board.

31-0 looks a lot worse than 31-6.

My take on re-signing Prater: In a tank year..... It's super important to make sure you lose the close ones.

Monti's free agency strategy so far re: not re-signing Allen but signing the others.

Prater hit at an 88% clip when he was healthy. If he can stay healthy he is a solid kicker. I really thought he would retire after last season.
Agree he's a good kicker when healthy. The problem is he's 39 and will only become more injury prone moving forward. If we are in rebuild mode, I would have rather saved the money and signed a rookie FA or someone on the cheap.

Pennywise and pound foolish, as the Brits say.

You get what you pay for, as was proven last season when Prater was out.

Rebuild doesn't mean we're deliberately in the losing mode.

Not at all. Would have spent the money on a higher priority positional need.

We got what we paid for with Prater also… mediocrity and injury prone. Yay!

#Cardinals signing K Matt Prater to a two-year, $7.5M deal with $4M guaranteed

I believe this is what he was paid before. Can easily be a one year deal.

So is it about guaranteed money or total contract? With Allen, you said he's getting his 45 mill. With Prater, it's easily moved on after 1 year.
I'm saying Allen is getting 32 Mill and Prater is getting 4mill unless they outplay their expectations.
