Just drove by the area about an hour and a half ago. A lot of dirt has been cleared/graded since my last time there. Definitely moving along now.
Mikey currently working on a new stadium. But the only city in the Valley that picked up the phone is Peoria. And STA won’t be nearly as nice with the lease this time around.

I was under the impression they would eventually be building a new stadium on the land they just purchased. I'm not in AZ so I have to research some of the stuff you guys discuss regarding the area. Is this not the long term plan?

Yeah I've only heard of the possibility of building a new stadium on Michael's new Scottsdale property sometime in the future.

I thought that was just speculation, right? I also thought I heard of the possibility of building a new hockey arena on the land.

This is what I read when it was first announced: The team will also work with the city of Phoenix and the Arizona Commerce Authority to populate the remaining mixed-use area, with possibilities including corporate headquarters, restaurants, retail, medical facilities and residential spots.

It makes sense...and then they can build a hockey arena on the Tempe site.
