While Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has kept the posture of pretension, Jacoby Brissett has been busy putting his potential into practice. Brissett's precision was on full display in Monday night's 27-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, where he threw two touchdown passes and completed 21 of his 31 pass attempts for 261 passing yards and no interceptions.
Murray was listed as questionable for Week 9, and his absence ultimately turned out to be inconsequential. Nevertheless, the ESPN cinematography and broadcast crew were sure to zoom in on Murray's countenance as he watched Brissett excel from the Cardinals' sideline.
Cardinals fans know that their team is loaded with offensive talent, but their 3-5 season record hasn't fully exemplified the potency of their personnel. So, what circumstantial evidence is left for the Cardinals to reason with resetting team morale and handing the fate of the season back into the hands of Murray?
While head coach Jonathan Gannon said nothing had changed with the quarterback situation after the game, he came out Monday and declared Brissett the Week 10 starter. Fans aren't fully sold on Murray as the future of the franchise and Brissett continues to show that he is able to take on the role as QB1 for the team. Murray has the talent, but he also has the turnovers, something Brissett has shown himself to avoid as a Cardinals' starter. In five games played this season, Murray has yielded a QBR of 44.4 while Brissett has an accumulative QBR of 51. The contrast isn't bold enough to deem Murray as the better option and that truth is fairly discomforting for a team seeking to re-establish itself in a tough NFC West division.
Ultimately, the eye test points in the direction of Brissett as the starter for the team. Murray's talents haven't stood the test of time, and if Gannon isn't constructive in his counseling, he could send the Cardinals locker room into chaos.
