The St. Louis Cardinals are suddenly becoming one of baseball's best stories, and somehow, a group of shirtless college baseball players has become part of it. What started as a viral moment during Friday night's dramatic extra-innings win over the Kansas City Royals somehow escalated even further Saturday after Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol decided to fully embrace the chaos. And Busch Stadium absolutely loved it.

Oli Marmol leaned completely into Cardinals' viral fan moment

After Friday's win, Marmol could not stop talking about the electric atmosphere created by the Stephen F. Austin club baseball team, whose shirtless celebrations in right field quickly became the talk of Cardinals social media.

"Whoever started that in right field, I'll do whatever I need to do to make sure they come every game," Marmol said after the game.

Turns out, he meant it.

Before Saturday's matchup against Kansas City, Marmol announced he was buying out the remaining tickets in the now-famous right-field section to help recreate the atmosphere. Fans quickly rushed to claim the free seats as the Cardinals leaned all the way into what had unexpectedly become one of the most entertaining fan stories of the MLB season.

Then things somehow became even better.Following Saturday's 4-2 win over the Royals, Marmol personally escorted the entire Stephen F. Austin club baseball team into the Cardinals clubhouse, where the group celebrated with players, collected autographs and continued the shirtless festivities that helped make them internet stars overnight.

Cardinals' clubhouse vibes continue growing during hot stretch

The moment perfectly captured the energy surrounding this Cardinals team right now. Despite entering the season with relatively modest outside expectations, St. Louis improved to 27-18 with Saturday's victory and continues looking like a legitimate National League contender. The club has now won four of its last five games and sits firmly in the race near the top of the NL Central standings.

Players are clearly feeding off the atmosphere developing around the team. Young stars like Masyn Winn openly embraced the scene after the game, with Winn saying he had never seen anything quite like it at Busch Stadium or any other ballpark.

That growing connection between the team and fan base is becoming one of the defining stories of the Cardinals' season.

Cardinals suddenly becoming one of baseball's most entertaining teams

Saturday's game itself featured another strong performance for St. Louis, including key contributions from Alec Burleson and six solid innings from Kyle Leahy. But honestly, the baseball almost felt secondary by the end of the afternoon.

Instead, the lasting image became a Major League manager walking a group of overjoyed college club baseball players into an MLB clubhouse while chants echoed through the hallway.

That type of moment cannot really be manufactured. It happens when a team is winning, fans are engaged and the entire environment starts feeding off itself.

Right now, the Cardinals have all of that working in their favor. And apparently, they also have the "Tarps Off" crew helping lead the charge.
