Conrad Dobler, once considered one of the NFL's dirtiest players, is 90 percent disabled after a 10-year career that ended in 1981. Joy is a quadriplegic after a freak accident at home six years ago when she fell from a hammock. The expenses for her care and for the multiple operations that Conrad has had to undergo for a deteriorating knee has sapped the family of more than $1 million -- virtually all of the Doblers' net worth.

Your knowledge of football is pathetic! Spiking the ball to stop the clock was considered intentional grounding in 1986. It wasn't allowed until 1993.

Well if you can spike the ball you can get a play off. They had plenty of time to get a play off but no one looked like they were hurrying.

That was the game in St.Louis. Later in the season, we beat them 38-0 in Dallas. Cardinals had 3 shutouts that season. But, we managed to lose our last 3 & miss the playoffs. Bidwill, in a rage, fired Charley Winner after the last game, which was a big mistake. The Cardinals would suck for 4 years, until we lucked into Coryell. And Bidwill managed to screw that up too.

Imagine trading your best player to a division rival. The years we played in the NFC East with stacked Cowboy and Giant teams, before salary caps allowing player movement, were some of the bleakest. Teams like the Giants and Cowboys just outspent us and built dynasties. Bidwill may have been cheap but the truth is he couldn't compete with the Giants and Cowboys (and others in big markets like the 49ers) no matter how much he spent. Then we move to the NFC West and it's been the best division in football for a decade.
