The Montreal Canadiens may have plenty of things working against them in the 2026 Eastern Conference Final against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Habs have played two seven-game series in a row, while the Hurricanes are rested. Carolina has also put together a dominant run as the top seed, while Montreal has barely eked through its first two series.

But these Canadiens also have a good omen on their side.

They're the youngest team to advance to the conference final round since 1993, with an average age of 25.8, according to The Athletic's Chris Johnston.

The 1993 team whose record they tied? The Canadiens.

And that year, those Canadiens won the Stanley Cup.

Making matters even more overlapping is that the Habs' average age that season was also 25.8.

The Montreal Canadiens are the youngest NHL team to advance to the conference final since the 1993 #habs, per @NHLPR.

It's actually a fascinating historical message being sent 33 years later, too.

That Canadiens team won the Cup despite their youth, but they didn't win it again. It's a clear point about not taking these chances for granted.

Maybe this season's Habs are the underdogs against Carolina, but so be it. They're eight wins from the Cup, and all they can do is play like this may be the best chance they ever get.
