KEY TAKEAWAYS:
- Pat Cummins says SRH have multiple plans ready specifically for Sooryavanshi.

- SRH won that game despite the carnage and completed a league double over RR.
Pat Cummins has done his homework on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi ahead of IPL Eliminator
Pat Cummins has revealed that Sunrisers Hyderabad has spent considerable time working out how to stop Vaibhav Sooryavanshi when they meet Rajasthan Royals again in Wednesday's knockout fixture at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh for an IPL Eliminator.
Sooryavanshi has been the story of IPL 2026 as the 15-year-old from Bihar has accumulated 583 runs across the season at a strike rate of 232. He has taken attacks apart in ways that have made even veterans of the game look helpless.
During the first league fixture between the two teams, SRH got Sooryavanshi out for a duck in the opening over, through Praful Hinge. However, in the return fixture in Jaipur, Sooryavanshi walked out with something to prove, and within the first over, he had already smashed Hinge for four sixes.
He reached his fifty off just 15 balls and then went on to complete a century off 36 deliveries, which is the third-fastest hundred in the history of the IPL.
Pat Cummins is more prepared for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
Speaking to JioStar ahead of the Eliminator, Cummins acknowledged that certain batters demand extra attention, and Sooryavanshi is one of those players.
“It’s always a balance of, as a bowler, understanding what you do well and how you’re going to bowl to your strengths,” Cummins said.
“But when there are probably one or two players in every lineup who can take the game away from the opposition, you do spend a little bit longer working on a Plan B or Plan C. So, yeah, we’ll plan for him.
"Even though he got a hundred against us last time, I thought there were times when we actually bowled quite well to him and kept him quiet. At other times, he got away from us. So, we’ll learn from that."
The winner of this Eliminator earns the right to face Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 at the same ground on Friday. GT suffered a heavy 92-run defeat to defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 1 and will be looking to regroup quickly.
However, for SRH and RR, there is no safety net, and one team goes home on Wednesday night.

The Cricket News Opinion: SRH need to be tight on the field vs Sooryavanshi
Sooryavanshi was put down on 32 in Jaipur, and the batsman made them pay for every one of those runs that followed.
Cummins knows, better than anyone, that you cannot afford the same generosity in a knockout match. One error against this kid, and the game can be gone before the powerplay ends.
SRH's bowling is deep enough and smart enough to make life difficult, but the margin for error against Sooryavanshi is incredibly small. And in an Eliminator of this magnitude, the side that holds its catches will advance.
