No one dared to think that someone could come into Duke and fill Cooper Flagg’s shoes after the historic freshman season he had last year, but Cameron Boozer is doing just that, as the top-seeded Blue Devils are into the Sweet 16 and have their eyes on the national title.
While Boozer has already been named the ACC Player and Rookie of the Year, the 6-foot-9 forward earned two national awards on Tuesday, being named the 2025-26 Oscar Robertson Trophy as the Men's National Player of the Year and the 2025-26 Wayman Tisdale Award as the National Freshman Player of the Year by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
Boozer has been dominant all season, averaging a double-double with 22.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, while also dishing out 4.2 assists per game, helping lead the Blue Devils to a 34-2 record along with an ACC regular-season and tournament title. He became just the fifth player to sweep the conference awards, joining Flagg, Zion Williamson, Marvin Bagley III, and Jahlil Okafor.
It would be a shock if Boozer didn’t also win the Wooden Award, given to the top men’s college player every season.
