I understand the NFL is looking to make it more an offensive driven league but the way these defenses are handcuffed is just ridiculous.

I'm suggesting that the NFL does away with the automatic first down when there is tricky tack holding or hands on a receiver. Give the 5 yard penalty and if that results in first down fine, but not automatic first. Pass interference is one thing but this has gotten out of hand. Receivers are looking for flags on every play.

Its all good they pick up flags in Dallas....lol what a joke!

Unbelievable. Buck, Aikman and what his name (lol) all said it was a good flag. Cost Detroit big. The punter doing his best Butler impression helped quite a bit too.

I agree on that. If they are going to call it so aggressively the automatic first down is absolutely devastating.

I really like this idea, a lot. I can't count the number of poor/ticky tack calls of holding on a receiver who was not even near the play, when the ball was either overthrown or the qb was hit or otherwise negated, yet the team picks up a first down (and often in a 2nd or 3rd and long scenario). Those away from the play holding penalties drive me insane. Especially when a qb never even looks that direction.
