It’s been quite the week for Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark following her viral sideline exchange with head coach Stephanie White during last weekend’s 100-84 loss to the Portland Fire.
That was the last time Clark and the Fever took the floor before Thursday’s matchup against the Atlanta Dream.
As the face of the WNBA, Clark is constantly in the spotlight, and with that comes criticism. Over the past several days, much of the discussion has centered around her body language and visible frustration during games.
Ahead of Thursday’s contest, Clark addressed the criticism she has received.
“Personally, I’m doing great. I don’t really read that stuff. I know everybody can have an opinion and people make me aware. … But I’m not sitting on Twitter or social media reading those things,” Clark said.

When asked specifically about improving her body language, Clark acknowledged it’s an area where she can continue to grow, but noted that her competitive nature is also a major reason for her success.
“It’s something I can always work on,” Clark said. “I’m competitive and I have an edge — that’s what makes me great, but sometimes it’s not something you always love, too. But at the same time, that competitive fire, that drive, that passion, that joy, and that edge — that’s what people come to watch. It’s what they love.”
Clark is one of the biggest stars in professional sports, and like any athlete on the level of LeBron James or Patrick Mahomes, criticism comes with the territory. Nearly everything she does is put under a microscope by fans and media alike.
At the same time, Clark has also received plenty of support over the past several days as she continues to navigate the spotlight during her third season in the WNBA.
