Indiana Fever superstar guard Caitlin Clark has not played in a game since June 25 because of injury, but it may not be much longer before we see her back on a WNBA court.

Clark missed one game after she exited the aforementioned contest with a back injury. That was the same game in which she took cheap shots from Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas.

On Friday, Clark revealed she would return to practice but won’t play in the next Fever game that falls on Sunday, July 5, and comes against the Las Vegas Aces.

However, she is feeling good about her chances of playing in one of the back-to-back games the Fever have on July 8 and 9 against the Los Angeles Sparks and Mercury, respectively.

“Feeling a lot better, excited to get back into practice today and then feeling really, really positive about getting back into one of the games at the back to back,” Clark said.

“Obviously difficult coming back in a back-to-back, so we’ll have to be cautious of that, but I feel a lot better and, like I said, excited to get back into practice and this week has been very helpful for my overall health,” she added.

Impact of Caitlin Clark’s injury

Caitlin Clark’s teammates weathered the storm without her in their final game before the Commissioner’s Cup break, beating Los Angeles 111-87.

That said, the Fever are obviously a better team with their best player, so she will be missed on Sunday against the Aces.

She will also be missed by the league itself, as ratings are badly hurt when Clark isn’t playing. Sunday’s contest versus Las Vegas will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Caitlin Clark voted to All-Star Game

Clark was voted to yet another All-Star Game and will be one of the 10 starters.

Among guards, Clark finished second in the fan vote and third in the media vote. However, she did poorly with the players, who voted her as the 11th-best guard.

Of course, there is already the narrative that players are jealous of Clark’s popularity, so those results are only going to fan the flames because we know there aren’t 10 guards better than Clark in the WNBA.

The WNBA All-Star Game will take place on Saturday, July 25, at the United Center in Chicago.

Hopefully Clark can avoid more cheap shots and stay healthy en route to playing in this year’s game after she sat out the 2025 version.
